What is a farewell shroud?
If you don't want to use a coffin for the funeral and are looking for another solution, a farewell shroud is probably what you are looking for.
Farewell shroud
A farewell shroud, better known as a shroud, is a cloth that you can wrap around someone for a soft farewell. In contrast to a hard and closed coffin, a shroud gives an open appearance. For many people, a coffin feels impersonal, the deceased lies between hard partitions and is barely or not visible. With a farewell shroud that is different, which gives a funeral a completely different feeling.
Soft and environmentally friendly
The fabrics of our shrouds are all made of soft and environmentally friendly materials . This is, besides being good for the environment, a requirement if a cremation is chosen. During a wake, the fabric encloses the figure of the deceased in a respectful way, like a flower. It is also possible to choose to close the shroud.
Saying goodbye
Saying goodbye to a loved one is a difficult process. We try to ease this suffering for you with 'a soft funeral'. By wrapping the deceased in a shroud, a concrete step can be taken in saying goodbye. For many people, this is a symbolic way to start the grieving process. Stroke by stroke, you wrap a loved one. Instructions for this are always supplied with the farewell shrouds and can also be found on our website. You can make it as personal as you wish. You can paint on the shroud and mementos, such as notes or flowers, can be placed in the folds. This can be done in a large or small circle.
Buy a mortuary shelf
In order to carry and lay out the deceased during a farewell, a stretcher is needed. For this purpose, we have designed the Basic bier , a simple bier board with raised edges. Another stretcher that we sell is the Takkenbaar , made of Dutch willow branches. With a stretcher, the shroud comes into its own in a unique way and all attention is focused on the proximity of the deceased.
