The Thick wool shroud is made of 100% Dutch wool. The wool is sturdy, thick and exceptionally soft, which wraps the body with comfort and with dignity. The shroud can be folded using our standard instructions, or in a simplified version that is easier given the thickness of the fabric. Both instructions are included.

A cherished ritual

Sustainable, local wool

It is special that this fabric is produced locally, since wool mills have slowly disappeared from the Netherlands in recent years. Almost all local wool is since exported as a residual product to Chinese weaving mills or burned as a waste product. This means that that wool usually has a major environmental impact. The wool of this shroud is harvested from flocks of sheep that are used for nature conservation, and the cloth is produced locally.

What is the best way to fold the shroud?

Er zijn twee standaardmanieren waarop de wade gevouwen kan worden (open en gesloten). Voor de Dikke wollen wade is er ook nog een andere manier ontwikkeld, aangezien dit soms beter werkt met de dikke stof, zie hier de instructie. De instructies voor alle vouwmethoden worden meegeleverd bij de wade.

Can a shroud be used for cremation?

Ja, een lijkwade kan in combinatie met een draagbaar gebruikt worden bij een crematie. Bij sommige crematoria is het verplicht om een inschuifplank te gebruiken als de baar geen platte bodem heeft. Neem altijd contact op met het crematorium of de uitvaartbegeleider om te weten welke vereisten er zijn.

Can a shroud be purchased now and be stored for a long time?

Ja. De wade kan lange tijd bewaard worden in de kartonnen doos of in een katoenen zak. Een koele, droge, donkere plek is het beste. Zorg ervoor dat er geen motten bij kunnen komen, want deze kunnen de wolvezels aantasten.
