About us
Wikkelgoed for a personal funeral
Wrapped in a shroud, a body is approachable, close and soft. This makes saying goodbye personal, because the soft fabric makes people feel more comfortable in approaching the body. We have experienced that this closeness has a positive effect on grieving. That is why our shrouds are made of soft fabrics, some a little rougher than others, for every person is different.
Who is Wikkelgoed?
Wikkelgoed was founded in 2000 by Monique Rang. The death of her mother and grandmother convinced Monique that a funeral with a shroud, as an alternative to a coffin, is beautiful and more personal. She made it her mission to share this conviction with the world. For years, she did pioneer work to change the funeral industry and introduce more and more people to the shroud. When Monique passed away, her children placed her in one of her own shrouds.

Robbe
Wikkelgoed is currently managed by Robbe, Monique Rang's son. After he experienced what it was like to say goodbye using a shroud when she passed away, he remained impressed by the ritual for a long time. For years, he ran Wikkelgoed alongside his fast-growing and successful maintenance company. He discovered that this was too much: "I had to change course. I asked myself what really made me happy." That turned out to be Wikkelgoed, because it is where he can put his pioneering spirit to good use. Like mother, like son. "Her goal was, and my goal is, to innovate. At the moment, with the advent of resomation, for example, there are so many possibilities in the funeral industry. Since a wooden coffin cannot be placed in a Resomator, it is up to suppliers like us to come up with suitable solutions. Offering an alternative and encouraging change, that is what I am going for. Wikkelgoed has my full attention again and that feels incredibly good."

Jelle
Robbe has been assisted in running Wikkelgoed by Jelle for a number of years now. He is involved in creating content, communicating the vision of Wikkelgoed and went on the Resomation college tour with Dutch ambassador Vincent van Leest. "With an innovation such as resomation, it is important that people who choose to do so in such an important period are not faced with difficult questions. Together with experienced experts from the sector, we ensure that the right products are ready when the first Resomators start running." In Robbe's words, his curiosity, creativity, flexibility, responsibility and drive are a very welcome addition to Wikkelgoed. As Jelle himself says: "It's special to work here, because it invites me to reflect on things that I normally don't. I had never heard of shrouds before, but now I can't imagine a funeral without them."

Jordy
Since the summer of 2025, Jordy has been supporting the Wikkelgoed team in customer service. You may have already met him on the phone or by email. He says: "Working at Wikkelgoed feels a bit like coming home—like being part of a family. It's a warm, caring company with a wonderful selection of shrouds and other funeral materials, with a focus on people and nature." Jordy also works as an independent funeral director. "In both roles, I get to make a difference for people during a vulnerable time in their lives. That's not only satisfying, but also gives me the feeling that I can truly make a difference, in a way that suits me."
