Organic molton
The organic molton that we use for the Basic shroud is roughened on both sides, which makes it feel extra soft. No surprise that the word molton comes from the Latin word mollis, which means soft.
Organic Molton
Our organic molton is made from 100% organic cotton. The cotton is grown and washed in small-scale plantations in Kyrgyzstan. The yarns are then spun in Germany, after which it is woven in the Czech Republic. The final steps of the manufacturing process, washing and combing the fabric, take place in Germany again.
Organic cotton
The organic cotton of this molton comes from the area around the Aegean Sea. Here the producer takes meticulous care of the cultivation process. This results in a beautiful, even result with consistent quality. The cotton from this area is one of the most beautiful types there is. This can both be seen and felt in the resulting fabrics.
GOTS certified
The entire production process of our soft molton is GOTS-certified. The GOTS certificate guarantees that the entire production chain is sustainable: no pesticides or artificial fertilizers are used in cultivation. The working conditions also meet strict requirements. Below are some of the criteria:
- The work is done of free will;
- The right to freedom of association and collective bargaining is respected;
- Working conditions are safe and hygienic;
- No child labor is used;
- The salary falls within the minimum wage;
- No excessive working hours;
- There is no discrimination;
- Regular work is provided;
- Mistreatment or inhumane treatment of personnel is prohibited.
The Basic shroud
Our Basic shroud is made of this 100% organic molton. This shroud is available as part of our sets: the Basic Set, the Nature Set and the Rattan Set. The fabric is very elegant due to its softness and the smooth way in which the shroud can be draped. The shroud is made from one piece of organic molton, which means there is no middle seam. This is special, because most weaving machines cannot weave wider than 150 centimeters.
