Organic cotton
The organic cotton we use for our products comes from the area around the Aegean Sea.
The crop is grown in Bergama, in the hinterland of Izmir, Turkey. The cotton from this area is one of the most beautiful types there is. This can both be seen and felt in the fabrics.
Organic cotton
Our organic cotton is grown on plantations where the farmers use only natural raw materials and cultivation techniques. No chemical pesticides or artificial fertilizers are used. The cotton is picked by hand, which has the advantage that only the best cotton is used. After the cotton has been picked, it must be washed thoroughly, so that only the cotton fibers remain. In order to make yarn from these fibers, a machine ensures that all the fibers lie flat, in the same direction. The fibers are then twisted into thick strands, after which these strands are thinned enough to be spun into yarn. The final fabric is woven from this yarn.
Crop rotation
To prevent the soil from losing its quality, different crops are regularly grown on the plantation. When the same crop is grown every year, the same substances are extracted from the soil, which can lead to the soil being fully depleted. Different crops require different raw materials. By alternating crops, the soil remains a good nutrient.
GOTS certified
The entire production process of our cotton production is GOTS-certified. This means that the cultivation and harvesting of the cotton meets certain requirements: no pesticides or artificial fertilizers are used during cultivation. The working conditions also meet strict requirements. Read more about the GOTS certificate here.
Shrouds made of cotton
The shrouds made from this organic cotton are the Soft shroud, the canvas shroud and the Denim shroud. The Soft shroud is a shroud made from soft organic flannel. The Denim shroud is for 37% made of this organic cotton, and 63% hemp textile.
