Natural burial ground as an alternative

In recent years, many developments have taken place in the funeral world. More and more people are interested in alternative ways of burial. The biggest development is the rise of the natural burial ground, nature areas that have been made available as a burial ground. These burial grounds bring all kinds of new possibilities with them, compared to regular burial grounds and crematoria.

The nature

The main reason that there is more and more interest in natural burial grounds is the peace that nature brings. Natural graves are usually not marked and nature is left to its own devices, except for accessible walking paths. Without the usual rows of gravestones, these natural areas are a pleasant place to walk around.

Perpetual burial rights and nature conservation

Another major advantage of natural burial is that the burial rights on a natural grave are usually perpetual. This means that this right, unlike regular cemeteries, does not have to be extended. This saves relatives a worry and ensures that nature is preserved. As soon as someone has burial rights over a piece of land, this nature may no longer be affected.

The farewell

Often a natural burial ground has its own ceremony and condolence room where the farewell can take place. As much space as possible is always offered for realizing personal wishes. Sometimes the funeral can even be organized completely outdoors. The organizations are happy to discuss what you have in mind and help you realize this.

Natural materials in a natural burial ground

In order to treat nature well, only naturally degradable materials may be used. This includes biological shrouds , clothing, display boards , coffins or, for example, a biologically degradable urn . Scattering ashes is not permitted at most natural burial grounds because it places too much of a burden on the environment. In these cases, it is permitted to bury the urn or to scatter the ashes in a grave. We recommend that you discuss the possibilities with the cemetery you have in mind.
