Sustainable Shroud - GreenLeave
Today, May 1, 2018, the GreenLeave foundation launched a new video called Sustainable Shroud. In this short video they inform you about the possibilities regarding shrouds and organizing a sustainable funeral.
GreenLeave 'The Makers'
Last fall, GreenLeave launched the informative series 'The Makers', which focused on the makers of sustainable funeral products. The series included an episode devoted to the way in which our shrouds are produced at a work-study company. In the coming period, they will launch nine more videos, on topics such as sustainable funeral transport, printing, bouquets, catering and grave monuments. This time, the videos focus less on the craft of the makers, and on the substantive considerations and possibilities when organizing a funeral.
Sustainable Shroud
The theme of this episode is the sustainable shroud. Shrouds are rectangular cloths that, together with a bier, can replace a coffin at a funeral. The video focuses on the possibilities regarding sustainable materials, such as hemp. Are you wondering which materials are sustainable and which are not? Watch the episode here:
The GreenLeave approved label
GreenLeave has drawn up a number of strict sustainability criteria together with the Natuur & Milieu foundation. These criteria are regularly revised. Producers and suppliers of funeral products can submit their products to GreenLeave for testing. If a product meets the criteria, the 'GreenLeave approved label' may be used for it. The material used, its origin and the production process are examined. GreenLeave must be informed of any changes to this process and must grant permission to use the label again. This allows the funeral customer to see immediately which products have been produced with care for sustainability. Our Thick woolen shroud , the Hemp shroud , our closures , our Willow twig bowl and our Branch bar , among others, meet these criteria.
