New alternatives

Since the Lijkomhulselbesluit in 1998 (the Dutch regulations regarding the treatment of the deceased), and especially the withdrawal of all prescriptions regarding funeral clothing and covering in 2013, it is possible to be buried without a coffin. The alternative is to shroud the body in soft fabric, a shroud, and place it on a carrier (or stretcher). This alternative has been around for years now, but is still something new to many people. With new alternatives, the question often arises as to how much this would cost. That is why we will tell you everything about carrier pricing.

Carrier pricing

To meet everyone's needs, we have mortuary boards in different prices, roughly ranging from €285 to €900. The main reasons for the difference in price are the material and the processing. For example, the bamboo of our Bamboo  carrier is a very fast-growing crop compared to willow branches. In addition, special actions, such as bending wood for our Curved carrierand carefully weaving our Willow shell, are quite labor-intensive. Ultimately, the most important thing for us is that both the more affordable and the more expensive carriers are of good quality.

Without a coffin: carrier and shroud

To replace a coffin, you need a shroud and a carrier. A complete set is available at just €490 with our Bamboo set, which is more affordable than most coffins. This set was specially developed to make Green funeral more accessible, and is completely naturally biodegradable. Because there is a lot of variation in the price of both shrouds and carriers, you have complete control over the final costs.
