Our artisanal weavers
Artisanal weavers
The basketry was founded by two weavers. They have an extensive range of woven baskets and funeral products, including our Willow carrier, our Willow shell and the Comfort carrier. Their years of experience with these materials and tools ensure that each basket is of high quality. The two owners also offer weaving courses to share their passion. They do this on their own estate with home-grown materials. Their great love for the profession means that we proudly use their beautiful products.
The Willow shell
Artisanal
All baskets are woven by hand. This gives each basket a slightly different shape, and therefore its own character. They grow the willow branches they use themselves, on their own estate. They do not use pesticides or herbicides. The branches are carefully selected, so that the stems fit together, and the final basket is strong enough.
The Willow carrier
GreenLeave
Our Willow shell, Willow carrier and Comfort carrier are all approved by GreenLeave. GreenLeave offers funeral directors tools to give practical substance to their choice for a sustainable funeral. They also do this by examining funeral products and assessing their sustainability. Our Hemp shroud, Thick wool shroud and the Rondomrond are also approved, as well as the Wikkelbaar and a selection of accessories.
The Comfort carrier
Willow twigs
Growing and weaving willow twigs is an interesting process. When a twig or twig is a year old, it is harvested so that the material is still flexible enough to weave with. Harvest takes place in winter, after which the twigs are stored indoors for a year to strengthen When a basket is made, the twigs are first placed underwater for 14 days. This soaking makes the tough willow twigs flexible enough to weave with. A rattan string is used for the carrier's edge. Rotan is a liana that comes from Indonesia. As soon as the twigs have been woven together, they are dried, which restrengthens the braches.
