Organic flannel
The production process
The production process of organic flannel starts with the cultivation of cotton. When the cotton has grown enough, the plant can be harvested and washed. The washing is an important part of the process, it must be ensured that only the cotton fibres remain. In order to then make yarn from these fibres, the fibres are laid flat by a machine in the same direction. The machine then twists the fibres into thick strands, which are still too thick to use. These strands must then be thinned until they can be spun into yarn. The final fabric is woven from the spun yarn as a final step.
Where does our organic flannel come from?
The cotton from which our organic flannel is woven is grown, harvested and washed on small-scale plantations in Kyrgyzstan, located in Central Asia. After cultivation, the cotton is spun into yarns in Germany, after which these yarns are woven into fabric in the Czech Republic. For the final steps in the production process, washing and combing the fabric, the fabric travels back to Germany.
The Soft shroud
Our Soft shroud is made of organic flannel. The fabric is roughened on both sides to make the fabric feel particularly soft. Because we do not bleach the flannel, the characteristic warm cotton color, ecru, is retained. The fabric of this shroud falls smoothly and is therefore easy to fold and drape.
