The Basic carrier is made of unvarnished poplar plywood. Length 205cm, width 63cm (external dimension).

Poplar wood

The Basic carrier is soft to the touch due to its poplar multiplex and is unvarnished; the look is natural. The carrier is easy to handle, because the wood is light in weight.

Using the Basic carrier

The Basic carrier has six handles on each side. There is also a handle at the head end and at the foot end. The body can be secured to the carrier with one of our fasteners. A cremation input board is not required, as the carrier has a smooth base plate and raised edges.

Can a cremation be organised without a coffin?

Yes, it is legally permitted to organize a burial or cremation with a shroud in the Netherlands. Many crematoria allow this without a problem. Sometimes, the shroud is to be moistened, or a wet sheet is placed over it. This isn't actually necessary for safety reasons; the natural materials are flame retardant. Can a carrier be purchased now and be stored for a long time?

A carrier can be stored for years as long as it is kept in a dry, dark space, such as a shed or storage room.

What is the best way to transport the carrier in the hearse?

When transporting the carrier in a hearse, it is important that the body is fastened to the carrier. This can be done with one of our Shroud straps. Also make sure that the carrier is placed horizontally.
