Design Rondomrond

Rondomrond is the second shroud that visual artist Valentine Kempynck developed. Her first shroud, 'The Embrace', is also made of multiple woolen fabric pieces, each with an arm embroidened on it. Rondomrond was created from the urge for simplicity and class. Fore Valentine, the core principle remained that the body can be covered easily, step by step, both together and alone. This shroud is a kind of 'zen version' or 'little sister' of The Embrace.

100% Dutch wool

Rondomrond is made of 100% organic Dutch wool. The wool is sturdy, thick and exceptionally soft, allowing the body to be wrapped in a comfort and dignity.

Usage

The Rondomrond consists of several pieces that are placed over the body and are fastened using the fabric's openings. At the bottom, the pieces are attached to each other, making it easy to place the shroud correctly. Folding instructions are included. If you want to, it is possible to add embroiderings on the wool.

The carrier

To use a shroud at a cremation or burial, a carrier is required. We offer various carriers that fit nicely with the Rondomrond, such as the Basic carrier and Bamboo carrier.

How is the Rondomrond folded?

The Rondomrond is placed over the body part by part, each secured in the fabric's openings. The sections are connected at the bottom, making it easy to position the shroud correctly. Rondomrond folding instructions are included with the shroud.

Can a shroud be used for cremation?

Yes, it is possible to use a shroud, in combination with a carrier, for cremation. Some crematoria require the use of a Cremation input board when the carrier doesn't have a flat bottom plate. Always contact the crematorium or the funeral director you are working with, to be sure what the requirements are.

Can a shroud be purchased now and be stored for a long time?

Yes. The shroud can be stored for a long time in its cardboard box or a cotton cover. A cool, dry place would be best. Make sure to keep out moths, for they can damage the wool fibers.
