Who is Wikkelgoed?
Over the years, a lot has changed at Wikkelgoed. From a studio in the attic, to a family business, to ... where is Wikkelgoed now? We are happy to tell you how the original vision of founder Monique Rang is currently being continued.

Monique Rang's vision
In Monique's eyes, the funeral, as it was classically designed, had something distant about it. The hard edge of a coffin reduces the need for touch, while that can be valuable during the final farewell. This is why the shroud had made such an impression on her: a shroud encourages closeness and touch much more, you are literally closer to the deceased. She had experienced the wrapping of her grandmother herself as a cherished way of preparing someone who had been close to her for the farewell. She also imagined that a shroud could be closed a little further by relatives every day. In this way, a loved one can slowly be let go by cherishing and covering him or her. Monique found it most important that a funeral could be personal. That is why her shrouds were always simple in style, to give the relatives the opportunity to make them even more personal. For example, the shroud can be painted and flowers or notes can be placed in the folds of the shroud.

Robbe
Nowadays, Wikkelgoed is managed by Robbe, Monique Rang's son. After he experienced what it was like to say goodbye using a shroud when she passed away, he remained impressed by the wrapping ritual for a long time. Robbe has always had a passion for entrepreneurship and innovation. For years, he ran Wikkelgoed alongside his fast-growing and successful maintenance company, but this proved to be too much of a good thing. As he himself says: "I had to change course. I asked myself what really made me happy." That turned out to be Wikkelgoed, because it is where he can put his pioneering spirit to good use. Like mother, like son. "Her goal was and my goal is to innovate. The funeral industry offers many opportunities for this and my work here has an impact. Offering an alternative, encouraging change, that is what I am going for. Wikkelgoed has my full attention again and that feels incredibly good."

Jelle
Robbe has been assisted in running Wikkelgoed by Jelle for a number of years now. He is involved in creating content and communicating the vision of Wikkelgoed. In addition to his work for Wikkelgoed, he has completed his studies in English language and literature at university and is working hard as a musician. In Robbe's words, his curiosity, creativity, flexibility, sense of responsibility and drive are a very welcome addition to Wikkelgoed. As he himself says: "I find it special to work here, because it invites me to reflect on things that I normally don't. I had never heard of shrouds before, but now I can't imagine a funeral without them."
